Elk life member Tom Fink passed away


SALISBURY - Thomas John Fink, 85, of Salisbury, went to be safe in the arms of Jesus on June 15, 2009, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Fink was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Donna Fern Fink and Otto John Fink. He was a graduate of Mansfield, Ohio, schools, attended Duke University from 1942-43 and then went to serve his country as a fighter pilot and Lieutenant in the U.S. Army flying a B-17. He then went back to college and graduated from Ohio State in 1948. He was a supervisor at W.A. Brown.

Mr. Fink attended Trinity Wesleyan Church and was an usher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years.

Mr. Fink was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Eifler Fink; a son Thomas Fink, Jr.; and a brother, Bob Fink.

He is survived by a wife, Julia Fink; five stepdaughters, Brenda Morgan and husband Steve of Rockwell, Christine Brush and husband Byron of Rockwell, Teresa McFarland and husband Charles of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kimberly Morgan and husband Dilbert of Gold Hill and Joy Struggs and husband Scott of Salisbury; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends at Summersett Funeral Home on Friday, June 19 from 1-2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in Summersett Memorial Chapel. Pastor Randy Addison will be officiating. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum.
