Tyesha J. Brooks, pictured above left, is a student at West Rowan High School and is one of two recipients of the first annual Donald Stout Memorial Scholarship awards sponsored by Elks Lodge #699. Tyesha will be attending Winston-Salem State University where she will be pursuing a nursing degree.

Brittany L. Wietbrock, pictured above right, also a student at West Rowan High, has been awarded the Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student scholarship award. Brittany plans to attend Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory as a political science major.

Other local students who were given awards were:

Most Valuable Student awards were given to Jonathan W. Rash, Alexander J. Byrd, and Kaci Michelle Mulkey.

The second Donald Stout Memorial award went to George M Griffin.

All scholarships awarded were in the amount of $1,000. Congratulations to all recipients.
